Sept 12, Colombo: Sri Lankas Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today condemned the proposed attacks on Syria by the United States.
In a statement, the Political Bureau of the JVP said the US strategy is clear and is redrawing the map of Arab World in favour of imperialism.
The Marxist party said that no country has taken seriously the allegation of US that Syrian regime has used poison gas to attack the terrorists and only a very few countries in the whole world seemed to be in agreement with the unilateral intervention of US in Syria.
US blundered miserably in its foreign policy in the Middle East, the JVP Political Bureau said in its statement.
According to the Marxist party the final phase of conquering Middle East will certainly not be easy for the US and its friends since Syria is not alone as Iraq and Libya which had no friends when those countries were attacked by the US and NATO forces.
The JVP in its statement foretold that an imminent threat against the mankind is emerging in the Middle East.
The party urged the progressive and peace-loving people of the world to build the anti-imperialist mass organizations and fight against imperialism, the enemy of the mankind.

Sorry, but the JVP isn't a "Marxist party", they're outright Sinhala chauvinists who might have fought the bourgeois government of Sri Lanka once, but now reserve most of their strength for Tamil-baiting.

Thanks for writing that I didn't know that they weren't Marxist.

Most "Marxist" parties actively participating in a ruling bourgeois coalition (especially ones historically responsible for attacks against particular ethnic groups) should be suspect.

To be fair though, they aren't the only ones participating in a Capitalist government - there are also those in Cyprus, Moldova, Syria, Nepal and for a while, India too.
