Canada seems to be cozying up nicely to the U$ to get "their share" of the prize in Iraq.
'Vibes were very, very good'
Martin pleased with outcome of Bush meeting
Deals announced on Arar-like cases, Iraq contracts
SUSAN DELACOURT
OTTAWA BUREAU CHIEF
monterrey, mexico—Prime Minister Paul Martin walked away from his first meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush yesterday brandishing two deals that are being touted as proof of Canada's new, "unique" relationship with the United States.
"As far as I'm concerned, I thought that the vibes were very, very good on both sides," Martin said afterward.
One pact ensures Canada will be consulted if any of its citizens face deportation by the Americans — a direct reply to the case of Maher Arar, the Canadian who was shipped off to Syria after being detained on a flight stopover in the United States.

It looks like the Canadian Government are being poodle-ised into Blair-like zombies which can easily be controlled by Dubya.
They need to stop being so dependant on their neighbours and become free of the US, or else they will become a vassal of the Americans.

It didn't take long for the conservative Paul Martin to "jump on board" I guess.... :(

Bush and Martin - The Biggest pair of boobs you will ever see, porno movies included.
I can see it now. Iraqi oil in Canada, provided to us by Esso, and shipped here via CSL. Oh goody
At least America will only have to put up with GW for, at most, 4 more years. Paul Martin can run as long as he wants, if he continues to win.
This is why, as soon as an election is called, I'm throwing my total support behind the NDP candidate in my riding.
I will do everything I can, to ensure that Paul Martin's government is weakend, in some way, shape or form.
Vote NDP.

America does not own Canada! (no, we Brits do! )
Canada is a fully independant nation and America should not dangle a carrot in front of Canada to get it trapped in America's influence

Martin can go to hell, but until then the bastard has taken our country atleast two step backwards, and will continue to do so until he is ousted, when ever that is. For fucks sake I dislike that man.

of course paul martin is going to make friends with george bush!
America is Canada's largest importer. At the moment the US has on ongoing ban on Canadian softwood lumber and beef, two or our biggest industries, Canadian producers are losing alot of money, while the American people are paying way too much money for these goods = Big profit for Corperate America!
So of course martin is going to buddy up with bush, to try an lift these economic sanctions! thats just politics
ps. martin is a liberal, we will have to wait and see what reform he makes before we can judge him!
The Canadian government stands behind its choice of not going to war against Iraq!

Cretien didn't. Wow I never thought I'd actually be defending Cretien.

Correction: Martin is a member of the Liberal party. That doesn't mean he is a liberal. Judging from what he has said, what he has already done, and the fact that he was an uber-rich buisnessman before he went into politics, I think it is safe to say that he is a conservative.
The Canadian government stands behind its choice of not going to war against Iraq!
Why do you say that? I believe, although I may be wrong, that Martin would have supported the war.

Oh my Canadian brothers and sisters, I thought I could never hate a man so much as Paul martin. Even Brian Mulroney, I saw as a big, f'n joke.
The news you bring DeadMan, only builds to the fire.
At the risk of sounding Jingoistic, If I have to, I will spend my life fighting to keep Canada from becoming more American than it already is. Paul Martin, I dispise him soooo much, to the point I wish Jean Cretien was still Prime Minister.
It does appear that dark days are in store for Canada, but I, for one, will fight this..."Prime Minister."
Wow, no wonder Paul Martin is buddy Buddy with George W. Bush...Neither were actually elected

I have always really liked Paul Martin. I was at the leadership convention in Calgary when Chretien was elected Leader of the Liberal Party (I went as a Chretien delegate) and had many meetings with Paul Martin. Since then, I have attended some social functions that have included P.Martin, and he always seemed very sincere when we spoke on numerous issues. Frankly, I am quite surprised at the number of posts I see here that hate him! I thought that people liked him more than they liked Chretien! Maybe that is just what I hear, since I do live in Alberta...I am surrounded by Reformers ( P.C.'s).
Comments?

The media loves him. The young liberals love him. We, who don't like the Liberals, hate him.

Yes, it's called being a politician. Seeming sincere is what he does.
on numerous issues.
Like what?

You're surprised that a lot of people on a communist board hate a right wing multi-millionaire buisnessman?
I thought that people liked him more than they liked Chretien!
Why?
Maybe that is just what I hear, since I do live in Alberta...
Lol, ya that would probably be it.

Look no more, your neveau savior may be here, thats right Sheila Copps is pissed off at the new liberal party (too many conservatives in the house? ie. pauly boy) Could she move to the left and help create some NDP momentum? c'est possible mon amie's ;)
Will the NDP gain more influence and following; with a stand on new right winged conservatives in power? Hopefully, its about time for some real opposition on the left!

Will the NDP be driven right by the Liberals?
If you answer yes to Rasta's questions, you answer yes to mine.
