The capitalist class thinks education has been undermined by 'left-wing ideologues' and in history there should be a clear narrative of British progress with an emphasis on heroes and heroines from the past. Children are taught the history of kings and queens of England and the wars of the British ruling class in order that the working class identify their interests and history with that of the ruling capitalist class.

Socialists believe 'Men make their own history but they do not make it as they please'. We need to take back history into the hands of the working class, identify our class interests and history in opposition to capitalist history.
