This thread is in response to an old thread I tripped over while conducting online research into the US Socialist Workers Party, which thread doesn't seem to exist on this forum anymore (the last post in that thread was dated 12 June 2012).
Anyways, that thread contained a discussion of the party during the period of its decline, my having been a member of the Young Socialist Alliance (a youth group closely associated with that party) during the first four years of that period giving me a natural interest in that discussion.
Here's what I believe to be the best brief discussion of that period that I could find online, which is Barry Sheppard's answer to a review of his two-volume history of the party from 1960 (I can't post links yet, so just look up "In reply to Peter Boyle, by Barry Sheppard").
