Trotskyism is apparently not a 'broad tendency' any more.

Trotskyism is apparently not a 'broad tendency' any more.

The problem is that some trotskyists will go like 'oh no, I'm not a trotskyist, I'm a marxist!' Or even, 'bolshevik-leninist'. Therefore there is the category 'non-stalinist (leninist) marxist', which is meant to be inclusive of both trotskyists and these people who reject the label.

The categories are basically meant to be as inclusive as possible, to not turn out with a survey with as many tendencies as members. Same kind of logic is used with the different anarchist tendencies, while one can be an anarcho-communist but not belong to one of the other tendencies listed, it is more complicated the other way around; it's a term that is inclusive of different schools of thought.

And in any case, a die hard 'plain' anarcho-communist can vote 'other anarchist' if none of the other options suites them. There is nothing wrong with that option Fuserg9. ;)

How should we know how "respected" a member is IRL if we don't know each other IRL? For instance, we all know Psycho is heavily involved in the antifa/squat scene, but we don't really know the projects he's worked on or anything like that, so how can we know how "deserving of respect" he is or whatever?

Also, why is "activism" necessarily worthy of "respect", like, woop-dee-doo you organized an ineffectual protest, but it mobilized 20,000 people. Worthy of respect or waste of time? I dunno, the question seems flawed for this community. I wouldn't even know how to answer it, the only reason I know about the activism of some members is because of facebook...

The purpose of the question is to ask who on this board we think has the most cred as an actual activist, as opposed to an armchair, ivory tower type. If you disapprove of activism or otherwise don't want to answer this question, you are allowed to leave any such answers blank.

Overall, this is meant to be something light hearted and fun, so can't we all relax a bit..? ;)

Therefore there is the category 'non-stalinist (leninist) marxist', which is meant to be inclusive of both trotskyists and these people who reject the label.

I mean, there are 369 members of the group and it's one of the bigger tendencies on RL, more so than some of the others there. I'm not going to do the awards anyway so I don't really care, but it's still something that should be considered.

Do you have to be a remember of google docs or something to do that? I can't copy paste it, it's read only for me.

Golden Che Award 2013

This is the last of the awards given out in the ceremony. There have been controversies in the past regarding winners of this award, including when a restricted member, who is now banned, won the Award a few years ago. In 2011, however, the award was given posthumously to Redstar2000 after his sad passing that year, and it could not have gone to anyone else but him.

My question wasn't about the relevancy of activism, you're just reading stuff into my post.

Yeah of course nothing wrong with that option, others as well, my main "concern" was that platformists exist as an option when really... i cant recall anyone around here fitting there. the last one i remember i think got banned

I think both TAT and Forward Union, for example, count themselves as platformists.

Neither of them thinks the other one is, though.

Wait why is Trotskyist not an option when there are not one but two stalinist options? Maoism and Marxism Leninism are actually the same thing if people didn't notice by now, and they're both not banned for some reason? There is the whole nuance of some people claiming they're not trotskyists because they're ACTUALLY plain old marxists, blah blah blah, but it seems kind of weird, like it was ignored on purpose, and trotskyists are in the same grouping as DNZites.

Dear god, shut up. Not just you but everyone making a big deal out of this. This is the revleft chit chat awards. Also anyone using the term 'DNZites' () regulates themselves to the camp of people who should never be taken seriously, ever.

I was mostly kidding with the DNZite thing. But it just looked like it was on purpose, I mean Maoist and Marxist Leninist are just as broad tendencies as Trotskyist.

I wouldn't really look into it that much. Chit Chat 'awards' are just stupid yearly polls where everyone votes for their pals, there's really no point to them.

All users with more than 1200 posts, that have posted within the last 3 months, have now received a PM asking to participate. Other members that have posted within the same timeframe have received an email.

I would have PM'd everyone but the names of PM recipients have to be added manually. In any case, there is now a good chance of a high turnout, which will make it much more funny and interesting.

Send in your replies today! :)

I'm thinking next year, if I do it again, of using a survey site for the survey questions which might make it easier to collate the results, rather than using the PM system. I would have to find one that can allow for write-in answers, and I'm not sure if such a site could be used for the Awards themselves.

There are a few questions that could be removed, both from the survey and the awards themselves, yeah.
