Why does the west have to go around being the world police. Weve got involved in some things that we shouden't have. e.g. binsnia I know that we had to to sort out a war but why are troops still there and we will have troops still inf afghanistan in 20 years time

I thought it was plain to see, that the only reason america fights, is for its own intrests.
For example in Israel, its to keep the Jewish community at home happy.
In afghanastan, its to pipe the uzbek oil thru to neutral nations to USA.
In Yugoslavia it was to get rid of socialist milosovic
In Iraq, its was to keep its oil wells happy in Kuwait.
there are many more examples

I think that you can take the reasoning for it all the way back to WW2. They don't want to get caught short again and be seen as the last major country to enter the war. Also now they have a lot more foregin interests to protect, like the ones that Kamo stated. Unlike the days of isolationism.

They have a reputation to keep now and I think that they like being the centre of attention. Also they have such a huge and hi-tech army that was meant to be for the Reds, they have to use it for something. So they have decided that they may as well go and attack every crack pot leader that there is.

Exactly, TavareeshKamo.

While it may look like the U.S. is fighting for other people, it will always ALWAYS fight only for it's own interests. ALWAYS!

Western foriegn policy and involvement in foreign affairs is about economics and politics. It's all about protecting Western interests.
