Lebanese Communist Party urges decisive stance against aggression on Syria

BEIRUT: The Communist Party said Thursday that Lebanon should leave behind its policy of disassociation on the conflict in Syria and adopt a decisive stance against any aggression on its neighbor.
In a statement, the party urged its supporters and all Lebanese patriots to mobilize in a bid to prevent a Western-led attack on Syria following the Syrian regimes alleged use of chemical weapons against civilian areas last week.
Lebanon will not be disassociated from this aggression and its consequences, so it should be in the forefront [of parties] confronting this aggression, the statement said, referring to Beiruts announced policy of neutrality, or disassociation, on the war in Syria.
The party said the U.S. and its Western allies were interested only in targeting Arab countries after Arab peoples achieved qualitative progress, especially in Egypt in toppling the Muslim Brotherhood.
It said the current rush to strike Syria was merely the repetition of earlier policies that targeted Iraq and Libya.
