Is the "socialist" Hollande selling out to be a US imperialist puppet?

It's almost like the Socialist Party of France long ago ceased to have anything to do with Socialism.

I'm sure that Hollande and the French government see material benefits to siding with the US and/or establishing military strength in the middle east. Why we would think of them as anything other than capitalist imperialists is beyond me.

Most people who call themselves socialists in Europe are actually social-democrats, Hollande is no different.

Yeah, well the CPSU started out as the RSDLP.

Social-democracy then and now are entirely different animals. What was once radical is now a ruling class ideology dedicated to propping up capitalism. And this change occurred sometime during the first 20 years of the 1900's, depending on the location.

Yeah, but alot of "communist" parties just rebranded themselves as "socialist" or "social-democratic" just to lose any Cold War "stigma".

Or simply because they legally had to such as in the Baltic countries because communist parties were banned.

The main-stream "official" "communist" parties are rarely anything but vile social-democratic sell-out filth. They abandoned communism long prior to changing their names.

A lot of 'Socialist International' member parties and organizations are social democratic and thoroughly bourgeois. The NDP of Tunisia and Egypt were members of the Second international, as is the Greek PASOK party, for example.

Less than "puppetry" and more positioning. Assad's days are numbered. France has a historical -- imperialist -- interest in the region.

In all honesty I think that even the label "Social Democratic" is too generous for these parties, as they've adopted neo-liberal policies for some time.

Hollonde has been one of the most warmongering politicians in recent European history.
