Jordan was one of the most democratic arabic countries , and it had a very good reputation in the world as it respected human rights ......
But after The king of jordan died 2 years ago , his brother was supposed to be the King , but 2 days before the king died , plans were changed !
His son king Abdullah the 2nd , was announced to be the next king . king Abdullah the 2nd lived most of his life in America , and he is a son of an american woman who was married to the king of jordan !
After he came to power after his father , democracy was dissapearing from jordan . In the year 2000 , 153 complains were sent to the human rights organization , while only 80 complains were sent during the past 11 years !!
Mysterious deaths of activists who opposed israel and american policies , tortures in prisons , and random arrests . Lately new laws were forced against the media , the government has the right to close any tv station or a certain newspaper building if they say or write anything against the government or any of its allies ( America and israel ) .
last week reporters from Aljazeera were arrested , when they were brodcasting a demonstarion supporting palestinian ppl ........ and there were lots of random arrests in the demonstarion !

What's going on there, we haven't heard anything about that, suprise suprise! The rise to power that his son went through seems rather ... suspicious. Seems as if he has turned the country into another lackey of the United $tate$. I remember Jordan as being a very liberal country in comparison to many around it, what a turn around that has happened.

erm it's not been much of a democracy when it has a king pass and present, but i guess the former king was a good dictator as they go.
