Brandon's Impotent Rage

You know, as a socialist who lives in the ass-end of the South, it can be a very depressing existence. My faith in the working class still holds strong, but I would be lying if every bit of racist and/or reactionary rhetoric I hear from my fellow Southerners (regardless of race) didn't kill a part of me.

So when I saw this segment from a re-run of The Colbert Report, my faith in my class was restored. (http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2013/08/mayor-johnny-cummings-vicco-kentucky-interview-colbert-report)

Basically, a couple of months ago a small town in Kentucky became the smallest town in the United States to pass a fairness ordinance aimed at protecting LGBT individuals from work-place discrimination.

The people at The Colbert Report went down to do one of their segments. What follows is seven-plus minutes of humor, drama and most importantly the demolishing of stereotypes. What you would think of as a harsh, reactionary hillbilly town in fact proves to be populated with intelligent and insightful individuals that pretty much proves the moral of "Don't judge a book by his cover" to be completely true.

It's that last guy at the end that really got me. It fucking made me cry.

Fuck but I really needed to see this.
