To start, allow me to introduce myself. I'm very much so into history, and I'm majoring in history and I'm currently enrolled in a university. I furthermore like alternate history, esp. books by Harry Turtledove, Robert Conroy, etc. (my favorite book by Turtledove, How Few Remain, features an aged Abraham Lincoln speaking out in favor of Marxist ideals to workers nationwide twenty years after the South won the Civil War, who eventually goes on to form the Socialist Party)
I consider myself a Marxist, and specifically I lean towards Marxism-Leninism/Maoism ideologically. I'm currently planning on getting a leftist political club formed on my campus, either now or in a year or two once I feel confident that I'll be able to get a group of like-minded people together.
I consider myself something of a becoming activist, and am deeply interested in philosophy (esp. dialectical materialism which I've been studying), politics, etc.
I hope to have a good time on this forum. :)

Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
Could you expand a little on your political ideas? And what's the left scene like at your place?
I'm a History major myself, with the intent of going into teaching in the somewhat distant future. What are your plans (if you have any)?

Specifically I'm a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist in that I support the Kasama Project (which originally got me into communism due to the website's debate-centered format) and do read up a lot on the history of past revolutions (i.e. Russia, China, Cuba, etc.)
As for the left scene at my campus, I go to a fairly small campus (roughly a little over 1,000 students) and as of yet there has been no organized leftist organization or political group (besides the Young Republicans and the Young Democrats, etc.). Hence why I plan on forming a Students For A Democratic Society organization on campus.
Just today I've scoured my local university library for good social histories of the Russian Revolution, which is my favorite historical period. That and modern Chinese history.
BTW, I sent you a PM regarding a few account questions. I hope to get a response back soon and to clear a few things up.
Otherwise, I hope to enjoy my stay on this forum and to contribute in my own way,

Welcome!
I am currently a history major at my university, it is a lovely path to take, I see everyone else stepping directly into bourgeois bullshit while I simply enjoy what I do with only a minimal amount of the bullshit

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I hope to enjoy my time spent here on this forum as I go through my studies at college.
currently I'm reading Ho Chi Min: A Life by William J. Duiker which is very well-done. Its a good book, and I'd strongly recommend it. :)

Hi, and welcome. Are you on alternatehistory.com?
Yep, and the author of a now abandoned timeline entitled "Petrograd: The Red Flame Of Russia", which went through several drafts before I quietly discarded it.
Currently on AH.com I'm working on a TL dealing with a longer Vietnam War and a different 1970's United States. Who knows, I may revive my old timeline if I feel up to it.
Right now, besides the book on Ho Chi Minh, I've been reading Harry Turtledove's The Great War: Walk In Hell which details a black red rebellion in the Confederate States and the rise to power of the Socialist Party in the U.S.
