The Soviet anthem has an artistic and historical value i must say. People who sing it today deserve to be rounded up in a Gulag by me personally. :D

The soviet national anthem is one of the most depressing significations of the death of revolutionary spirit. Not just the lyrics, but the melody, the tune and the manner in which it is composed, meek and conservative, it is dull and dry, it glorifies the development of a state apparatus unfaithful to the spirit of the revolution. Don't get me wrong, the internationale is not much better, a piece I always found too liberal. I much prefer the anthem of the Comintern, the workers marseilles, and several other potential anthems. Even a socialist rendition of slavsya using only the beat or the melody with new lyrics (after all, many communist songs were made from the tune of tsarist era songs, white army black baron being one of them) would have been preferable to the 1945 anthem, even within the soviet unions messy context.
