Revleft as a whole should be a respectful place where everyone feels safe to post, but this subforum in particular should be as safe as possible so I've written some additional guidelines for posting. If you have any suggestions for changes or things I've missed, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Topics that come up in the discrimination subforum are not only important politically, but also often impact people in a very personal way. The concerns of people in marginalised groups should never be dismissed out of hand. It is your job as an ally to listen to women, LGBT people, people of colour, disabled people, or people in any other marginalised group when they raise issues and concerns and reflect on your beliefs and behaviour.

If you disagree with a point that's been made, it is important to engage the point and be aware of how you might be coming across. Bear in mind that people in marginalised groups have to deal with being dismissed and told how they should feel on a daily basis, so what you might think is an innocent and helpful post might not come across that way when it's being read. It might be useful to back up your points with articles or blog posts written by people facing a particular kind of oppression. It's disrespectful and offensive when men tell women how to organise, when straight people tell LGBT people how to feel about their oppression, etc.

Any graphic content (such as descriptions of violence) should be posted with a trigger warning, and/or in spoiler tags. Some people might not find trigger warnings useful, but some people do and it helps to know which threads or posts to avoid when they're feeling vulnerable.
