Well, watching Rick Mercer's Monday Report, He brought up the point that The Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan (OTPP), holds stock in Cadallac-Fairview (world's largest Shopping mall developer), Ritalin, and Phillip Morris Tobacco...three industries that profit off of children in some form or another.

Doing some research on my own, I discovered the OTPP has stock in the following companies:

Nintendo
PepsiCo
Molson (brewery)
WestJet (Canada's biggest private Airline)
Nestle
Almost EVERY Bank in Canada
Petro Canada
Shell
Hewlett-Packard
Microsoft
AOL Time-Warner

And DOZENS of other companies that can be found Here. (http://www.otpp.com/web/website.nsf/web/ListInvestments)

Now, is it just me, or does this seem rather...wrong?

What I see is profiteering off of children. Ritalin, Tobacco, Gas (Teens who drive), Electronics, sugar (Nestle and Pepsi, Beer, and vacations (through WestJet). Companies that target Children, either publically or secretly.

Am I alone on this issue?

Yeah.. it is a bit disturbing.

On the same note, just a different octave, the Teacher's Pension Plan holds large shares in the Toronto Sun, the most anti-teacher publication in Ontario that I have seen. Wierd eh?
