Misaligned Jaw?

I've noticed this and it's become a bit of an alarming realization. My bottom jaw is misaligned. I'm not sure how to describe it, really, but when I close my mouth, part my lips, and run my finger over my teeth, on the left side of my mouth I have an underbite, on the right side an overbite, though the central teeth for each jaw still match up. My mother has TMJ, but I have yet to feel any pain from this alignment. We don't have much money for a dentist visit, and I'm afraid to try anything on myself on my own for fear of dislocation of my jaw. Do you guys and gals have any idea what I might be able to do?

Your best bet would be to go to the doctor. No sense in waiting until it becomes worse or begins to hurt. Have a doctor look over it and see what they have to say on the subject.
