Haha, you just saw this now? We just rewatched it today, together with CoR. Very funny stuff.
I guess in order to fully appreciate it one has to be a former member of the CC though. I fixed the youtube link in your post, if you click edit post you'll see how to post them. ;)1

Man this is old as fuck. All those people are from the "good old days" of revleft. I bet half the members who post here anymore more don't even know who the fuck Marcella, Jazzart, Pouge, or Holden are. I think almost everyone mentioned in that video have been banned or got fed up with the site and pissed off except Devrim and maybe Forward Union (is he still around?). Even Marcella gave up the troll life as far as I'm aware. Miss those bastards truth be told.

gem from the comment section: "RevLeft is a bunch of reactionary, scum. Probably impanted by the CIA. They have the nerve to fucking talk about anarchism and communism when they're ENFORCING CAPITAL by banning people. Fuck RevLeft. As soon as I get some real dirt on them, I'm reporting them to the FBI."

so we "are impanted (?) by the CIA" and "ENFORCING CAPITAL" so he is going to report us to the "FBI" ?!?
makes perfect sense....
its really bizarre how many times people who think we are the fake revolutionary leftists threaten to call the cops and feds on us or threaten to sue us...

CC was the Commie-club, a bit like the CU now but with administrative powers, while a great experiment in online democracy it eventually devolved into sectarian block forming and which hunts where users spend more time bickering in the CC about who was the bigger reactionary that posting on the main boards about politically relevant stuff.

What is the Hoxhaist Union? The original RevLeft grouping for pro-Hoxha persons. I still have the November 16, 2007 PM wherein Prairie Fire said to myself and others: "Ismail has suggested that we change our Title underneath our avatars to Hoxhaist Union. Does everyone agree?" Its members included Slavyanski (aka Kayser_Soso), Criticize Everything Always, Kromando, Comrade Crum (aka Comrade Rage), and others, 99% of whom are unknown to 99% of RevLeft nowadays.

Why was he banned? I missed that, but remember he was sympathetic. If it was only for shitstirring or something maybe you could raise the case to unban him with the new ban review policy.
If he was a reactionary then he would have to have changed obviously..

Can anyone fill me in on this "forum games" episode? I'm not trying to open old wounds or anything like that, just looking for a brief summary. I feel like I should know what it is because of the time it occurred but I have no idea what it is aside from hearing it mentioned offhandedly. Was it the banning of people who were just here to do those forum games in OI?
Sentinel
12th September 2013, 11:12
What is most important to understand is that the Gamer controversy in -11 was a complicated and unfortunate situation. The BA originally closed those games simply as part of returning to a stricter policy on non political content in OI, where the games were located (so that non leftists could participate).
Some otherwise good users who were very upset about the closure of the games, resorted to extreme trolling and subversive behaviour towards the BA. Some of these members were banned.
Others got upset about their bans, and went down the same road. At the same time it was revealed that some politically very dubious people (ultrarightists) had joined the games. These were unsurprisingly banned as well.
The large amount of bans at the same time made some people start talking about a single 'purge'. But in reality the reasons behind the various bannings that occurred were quite diverse.
After the incident, the BA has since lifted the bans of several - and with our new ban review policy, generally any member that sincerely regrets breaking the rules can expect a fair treatment if appealing their ban from here.
Except those fascists..
Ismail
13th September 2013, 01:12
The post above mine is correct. The fascists and reactionaries who got banned were completely obscure to the average RevLefter and most had a post count of 10 or less. No notable user was accused of being among them.
The big problem was that the whole "forum games" bans coincided with the banning of two users (S.Artesian and RED DAVE) for completely unrelated reasons. Rumor-mongering produced a nonexistent tie between their bans and those banned over the forum games, hence the conspiracy theory that the BA was intellectually intimidated by these two users and used the forum game-related bans as a pretext to get rid of them. Two forums (one dedicated to forum games and where some of the fascists and reactionaries came from, the other comprised almost entirely of those banned from RevLeft) specifically sought to serve as bases for destabilizing RevLeft during that period.
