I'm 25 years old, living in midwest United States. I consider myself a revolutionary syndicalist, but I can identify with and admire other non-authoritarian leftist philosophies. I am also a Marxist humanist, an intellectual, gamer, programmer, system administrator, and general IT consultant. Most of my computer experience is in GNU/Linux and FreeBSD systems. I enjoy reading books on philosophy, history, politics, science, social theory, and mathematics. I pride myself on being an autodidact.

I recently dropped out of school due to mental disability (anxiety disorder, depression). I have figured that the time, money, and effort it takes to finish university is not worth it, so currently I'm just taking web-based courses at my local community college to earn certificates. If I were to graduate from university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, I'd be unemployed and over $100,000 in debt, which would give me little choice but to be exploited to further the capitalistic gains of some corporation, because that is the only type of job that pays a high enough salary for paying off my student loan debt. I'd live a simpler, more satisfying and fulfilling life by making a modest living as an IT specialist somewhere in the public sector.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

An interesting careerpath. Do you use GNU/Linux and *BSD in your private life too? I'm currently on Manjaro myself but have used Gentoo for years :)

Thanks. Yes, I do. I'm currently using Fedora 19 with XFCE and Debian Testing with KDE. On my laptop I have Gentoo with GNOME. I run openSUSE on my server PC because I believe it is well-tailored to a server environment with its use of systemd for init and the YaST tool. I've tried Manjaro before on my laptop. I do like how everything is pre-configured, but I've found Manjaro's pacman mirrors to be quite slow, so I changed them to the official Arch Linux mirrors. I adore Gentoo's package management system; it's so sophisticated and powerful :) I like Sabayon too, which is based on Gentoo, and its package manager is great as well.

It seems that you know what you're doing if you've used Gentoo for years, but, in any case, if you have any Linux questions feel free to shoot me a PM. :)
