Not a Irish republican in any shape or form but always had a soft spot for the music, the chieftains version of the foggy dew with Sinead oconner gives me shivers every time..

Irish music is simply great in general. It's no surprise that many military tunes both in the UK and the US were modeled after them. Hell, wasn't the U.S. anthem influenced by an Irish drinking song?
