Hi !

I am 18 and I live in Switzerland. What made me interested in politics is my father's and grandfather's history. They were both members of the Chilean socialist party. In 1973 they had to leave their country because of their political ideas.

Of course no one forced me to become a leftist , but the more I read about this sad period of history the more I hated capitalism and fascism. So I started to study marx's theory, and I became convinced that the system must be changed.

Therefore I'm pretty happy to have found this site, and I hope that I'll have interesting conversations with you guys !

P.S. Sorry if my english is not perfect :)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Your English is just fine! What could you tell us about your political ideas?

Erm, I'd say that I do not affiliate myself to a tendency yet, I'd have to read a lot more to put an exact name on what I believe. What I can say about my ideas is that I prefer the idea of permanent and global revolution more than socialism in one country. Moreover I'm against all form of oppression and authority, I'm anti-capitalist, anti-fascist, ecologist and feminist.

I've recently read the "one dimensional man" from Herbert Marcuse, and I think that it is one of the best critic of the advanced industrial societies I've ever read. If you guys have read it, what do you think of it ?

Welcome comrade. Take your time figuring out where you stand. There are a lot of tendencies out there. I would recommend reading some of Trotsky's works, well because I think highly of them. Also, you might want to check out what the Spartacist Tendency had to say about Allende and Chile before Pinochet took power. I should add that a lot of folks on RevLeft detest the Sparts -- you should, of course, judge for yourself. Good to have you here.
