Recently, I just read a post on here about sum dude who had found evidence of gay marriage being accepted and practiced in 100AD-hence Christianity had practiced this before so why hate on it now. Ohkay. I dont know if this is true or not-but if this DID happen, how can u let one person, or a groups, actions speak for tha whole religion ? I mean, what if tha person who was in rule at that time just let it happen against tha wishes of tha "truer" believers ? I mean, it WS during tha dark ages...ha..I feel like so many people are turned off about tha idea of religion because they had a bad experience[s] with one person of that said religion, or one church of that said religion. There are many people who claim a religion-but dont practice or even KNOW about that religion. Whether they picked it up from their parents or a teen-blog website..it's important to remember there are evil people in every religion, every race, every rightwing leftwing whatever wing-we cant judge a religion or race or any group by just one person or incident. Every Islamist is not an extremist. Every Christian is not outside ur house picketing gay-marriage. Every Pope aint a child molester. Tha list goes on. Of course these are things to keep in mind, ha but i really think There are true believers in every religion and I bet they are everything they represent, what their religion is supposed to be

Could you please consider spelling correctly?
You may have very interesting questions but I just can't read this.

I have to agree, I feel like you got a bit too stoned to type
If English is not your first language, then my statement does not apply, but please try to stop using this bizarre way of typing, nobody can understand you on this forum. Like not one person. Not trying to berate you, I'm just saying we literally cannot interpret your posts, so we can't really respond accordingly.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I don't think anyone is arguing that literally every individual who believes in a religion personally exercises the authoritarian influence and oppression of the hierarchical, organized, church. What is being argued, though, is that religion, as it exists, systemically promotes those values, whether or not every individual of said religion happens to believe in them. By simply adhering to the religion, they are helping to reproduce it and help it to thrive.
To be clearer, while there are individuals in those religion who might support gay marriage, it doesn't make religion, or the church, any less oppressive as it functions in society.
Sorry, again, if I misunderstood you.

Also, belief in a god (assuming you believe the god's "laws" must be followed) is inherently un-anarchist, do to the hierarchy that is imposed by that belief, so we must oppose that belief.
This isn't saying the people who believe are evil, it's just an opposition to hierarchies.

You should be aware of the fact that many of us here, myself included, have a problem with institutionalized religion and/or religion as a whole. This problem stems from a variety of unfortunate realities about religion (although mostly about institutionalized religion) including: dogmatism, reactionary beliefs, bigotry, authoritarianism, intolerance, the list goes on...
So the post in question (the thread which you are referring to) isn't claiming that all Christians suck or anything, no one is going to say that, but some folks will say that all Christianity sucks.
