Since ditching drugs and cigarettes and a shitty life style I have gone back to my athletic background but this time around as that athletic person that doesn't shut up about athletic things and makes everything about a happy shiny exercise universe and making all my friends not want to be around me. Aside from boxing, and possibly muay thai, which I plan to continue until I can get amateur fights and go pro (lol) I have been interested in challenging myself with various exercises or exercise routines. Hill sprints are a big one that I'll do once or twice a week, 10-20 100-200 meter 'sprints' with frequent vomit/dry heaving breaks, 2-3 min planks at the beginning middle and end of my core workout, endless squats, and now I am thinking about just skipping over marathons and going straight for ultramarathons, or at least breaking up my regular road work training to include heavy mileage at scenic locations.

I think you should prob build up from 5-10 miles, to half marathon, to at least a couple of marathons over the next year or so, before you hit the ultramarathons.

Or maybe speak to a doctor about what your physical capabilities are? Marathons and ultra-marathons are serious business.

I don't run, I hike. Up in North Jersey there's a nice wonderful mountainous area that gives your legs a workout. The burn feels good and lasts awhile.

However, I must commend you on ditching your past lifestyle for a more healthy one. Some people just get stuck in a rut and go with it. You took initiative and I think that takes a lot of strength to do.
