Ministers argue that the increased resources and the renewed focus on primary school pupils will help with education thereafter. Clegg will say: "Every primary school should strive to make its pupils ready for secondary school by the time they leave. All the evidence shows that if you start behind, you stay behind. A better start at secondary school is a better start in life.

"I make no apology for having high ambitions for our pupils. But for children to achieve their potential we need to raise the bar – in terms of tests, pass marks and minimum standards. I am confident that primary schools and their pupils will meet that challenge."
One could put a few key phrases into a blender and come up with a parliamentarian-style justification for these inhuman policies! Neoliberal-speak is infuriating..

"COMPETE, COMPETE, STRIVE, AMBITION, INITIATIVE, COMPETE, STRIVE! NO SUCH THING AS SOCIETY. SCURRY ALONG IN THE RAT RACE AND FUCK EVERYONE ELSE."

Anyway, this is absolutely insane. The verminous administrators of capital appear determined to squeeze every last vestige of joy out of life. Even childhood is to be "neoliberalised," with kids to be ranked, compared, labelled and forced into stressful situations from the minute they can walk.

With the shortening of school holidays, lengthening of the school day and intensification of their workload, we'll probably see more children become disillusioned and decide to (sensibly) drop out of this farcical game..

The amount of tests kids in the UK have to do is absurd, and more for the benefit of the schools than the children so they can make themselves look good in the league tables.

Well their fucking Tories and they strongly subscribe to the notion of 'children should be seen and not heard'. Not surprised by this at all, give it 5 years and kids will get taught in history classes that Hitler was a communist, and Adam Smith won ww1 and 2.

Kids are dumb, they should study more.

Kids are dumb, they should study more.Aw, don't troll. Besides testing does nothing to make anyone smarter or more knowledgeable. It's a way to begin disciplining and shaping labor from the cradle and in the US has been a main tool in efforts to smash unions in education and defund public education.

When I was a kid, I got to be a kid.

As far as I remember when I was a kid I was playing football all the time listening to music and playing my flute. Why would we accept this instant turn from being kids to adults?

Kids are dumb, they should study more.

Lack of social activity in place of textual study at the age of one to six years old has been documented to actually retard mental growth. Stop trolling.
