View Full Version : Swag-yolo

I think you know what I mean with the whole swag-yolo concept.
What I really wanted to learn: Is this disturbing choice of clothing and especially "opinions" that famous in America and other countries?

I've seen some kids around my town having these 'swag' hats but generally I haven't met someone actually having this ideology.

YOLO=You only live once
So the kids interpretate it do whatever the hell you want, jump off a freaking bridge and stuff like that.

SWAG. Nothing matters if you have SWAG. You don't need good grades at school if you have SWAG :confused::confused:

That's why I'm worried. If you can't see it you don't have enough SWAG #YOLO

I generally try to drink as much as I need to be able to ignore the rat race enough to enjoy the shit that I as a person actually enjoy doing. It's a good method. Btw., Degenerate habits are also a great way to get out and engage with other oppressed proles and becoming more socially active, which could actually end up in you meeting other isolated Socialists and building something to get us out of these shit conditions that breed degeneracy. Cheers

when i was a teenager i wasn't particularly swaggy but kept getting p good grades

i ended up doing absolutely nothing with those grades so maybe i wouldve been better off the other way around after all

To most kids my age (highschool), I don't think it's a serious thing. It's like a joke. My younger brother always yells "yolo" when he does something he shouldn't (not even something bad), or when he says he will do something funny. He's really funny and yolo isn't a very serious thing, though as a joke he will pretend it is.

Really you are gonna do this? In non-political?
I say something for jumping off a bridge (clearly meaning with no protection equalising this particular phrase with every single stupid thing that capitalist propaganda makes people do) and you say something completely irrelevant to the point of this thread.

Also the example I gave to you is completely fine? You don't need good grades if you have SWAG. THAT'S FINE BY YOU. Because YOU didn't need the grades anywhere in YOUR life. What if I told you that there are people that because of these grades didn't go to university.

I don't know what exactly you are trying to say here seriously...

Yeah I know I do that with my friends all the time. But when I see this SWAG style going on around listening to bad taste rap (fuck *****es all the time etc etc) not caring about anything around them (politics, enviroment, OTHER PEOPLE) it makes me feel sick.

In the begining I was seeing it as kids being kids (I was kinda like them in the early adolescent years) but I also see in sites like 9gag this whole YOLO SWAG shit going on and I was wondering if this... things is the source of these phenomenons.

Fourth Internationalist

Kids not caring about the things around them is not a relatively new thing. YOLO SWAG is just a term to use now when you do something stupid, and its a funny trend even if people use it in stupid ways they already would have done without it.

No one even jumps off a bridge because of "#YOLO" though. It's just something teenagers use as a joke, and even if they are going to do something because of yolo it's not going to be anything deadly. I just say yolo when I'm going to get a large ice cream

Teenagers just use this "yolo" and "swag" stuff ironically, pretty much. I've never actually seen someone outside of pictures on the internet say anything about yolo or swag in a serious way.

and he was wearing this one:

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=65766671

A customer came in and before they even started to ask their questions or whatever, the dude was like "oh shit! ya'lls swag is ON POINT!".

I shouted YOLO! in his face and walked into the back, I don't think he ended up getting anything from us hahahaha. But man did I feel like a douche for 1) wearing a matching sweatshirt with my friend and 2) having my "swag" complemented.

(swag)"YOLO is the idea that you are going to die anyway nothing really matters you may as well subscribe to a nihilistic world-view where the gratification of your own impulsive desires over rides all other concerns." -somegreybloke
YOLO is a really bad mindset to have other than just the term being over-used and annoying.

Honestly, nobody takes that seriously. Anybody nowadays who says anything along the lines of "swag" or "yolo" and are serious, they will get laughed out of town. Most people find it as ridiculous as you do, and it's usually used sarcastically or as a joke.

In all honesty I find hastags and yolo type stuff infuriating. Seriously on a morning when I happen to be out of cigarettes and I check my facebook before work and see all that dumb yolo shit with hashtags (which were designed for twitter if I'm not mistaken, so why the fuck is it on my facebook), I seriously want to start slashing throats and burning buildings with my piss. #Humanity is fucked

They actually added hashtag search functionality to facebook recently. Before that a shit ton of people I know were using them even though it was pointless. It's still annoying.

I actually grew up there. Thankfully, I was already well and gone by the time 'Y.O.L.O.' became a thing. ;)1

Actually, as far as I know, it hasn't really caught on in terms of t-shirts or any other stuff. Probably because, like me, few people actually noticed the connection.
