Denis Boyles of the NRO on what happened when Alain Hertoghe dared question the French press. (http://www.nationalreview.com/europress/europress200401090953.asp)
Alain Hertoghe is a veteran reporter for a French newspaper who compared stories on the Coalition invasion of Iraq between what the AP and others were saying and what the French press were saying. When he dared point out the French press got it wrong, he was canned.
This story is right up there with the BBC reporting no American troops in Baghdad while the rest of the world watches the statue of Saddam fall on TV. Fun stuff.

For some odd reason I can't get your link to work yet others have told me it's working fine. I can't say I'm very surprised by these actions, the french government had major business interests in Iraq. They were willing to protect them anyway they could other than fighting a war with the US. The government lied to get it's citizens on its side it didn't want to the lies to be exposed because the people would trust the government even less than it already does. what else can I say besides the fact that business and money comes before all else in todays societies worldwide.

Why should i take that link seriously Hank? It is some conservative front, the BBC is relatively unbiased.

The French press lied
Indeed?
Isn't your thread really: Alain Hertoghe says that "the French press lied"?
I read your National Review link...which failed to mention any actual "lies" that were "told" by the French press.
Perhaps M. Hertoghe feels that the "general tone" of the coverage was "unfair" to the United States.
If that's the case, I would ask what is "the correct tone" for covering imperialist aggression?
The American media has done pretty much everything short of publicly fellating the Emperor (George II)...are you disappointed that the French media had a different attitude?
That hardly makes them "liars".
