Hey y'all!
I'm applying for a community organizing job with ACORN Canada, but want to approach the whole thing with a critical eye. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding critical material about them from a left perspective. There's lots of OBAMA!ACORN!SOCIALISTSWILLTAKEOURGUNS! shit floating around the right-wing blogosphere, but, obviously, that's not really what I'm looking for. I am familiar with their relationship to the SEIU (of whom I'm not particularly fond), and corruption issues at the top of ACORN in the states, but . . .
Well, anyway, I'd love some help, either in terms of pointers to resource of personal stories.

Thanks!

Bump. C'mon, this is an organization that has been doing working class organizing for decades, has taken significant political positions, and attracted a lot of heat in mainstream politics (like, enough that it basically got all of its funding from everyone cut). Some of y'all must have opinions/analysis!

There was a time when ACORN canvassers tried to unionize with the IWW.

Which is quite odd. Alinskyite liberalism on the one hand, a red-baited, syndicalist union on the other.
