Hey RevLeft

My name's Will and I'm not entirely sure what to say here to be honest but I'll give it a go. I am 17 and live in Scotland (A "YES" Voter) and would consider myself a "lefty" but I'll admit I don't know very much about it at all. I am here mainly for education purposes (until I am competent enough to contribute) and have developed a passion for learning about ideologies and politics. I feel that a massive social change is necessary and I hope in the long run I can contribute greatly to this change.

So yeah I guess that's it really,

Will.

Wow you are someone who came here for all the right reasons.

More "beginning leftist" posters could take a hint from you

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Thanks for all the greetings!

Welcome, my name is Will as well. What political philosophy are you?

Well at the moment I think my stance is;
Economic left/right: -7.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.31 if that makes sense?

I think his question more had to do with the political current you identify with (if any). I.e. anarchism, Marxism, Trotskyism, etc, etc.

I have taken a quiz similar to the one, if not the same one. I would guess that you are somewhere between anarchism and and the various strands of Left Marxism. You would probably enjoy Rosa Luxemburg. You may find Lenin to be a bit authoritarian, as I often do.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that Political Compass test. Most people here seem to score -8 on both categories.
Study whatever interests you, and, as you lean left, I'd recommend checking out the learning forum for resources and reading about Marxism and/or anarchism for a good idea of what people here debate. (Oh, and read up on the Paris Commune, you're gonna hear a lot about that)
