So, if anybody is not entirely familiar, Line 9 is an oil pipeline owned by Enbridge (one of the big motherfuckers in the tarsands) that runs from Southern Ontario up to Montreal. Currently, Enbridge is doing work aimed at reversing the flow of the pipeline and using it to move bitumin (filthy thick corrosive tarsands oil). This comes with serious risk of environmental catastrophe (incl. serious risk to human health with the possibility of sour gas leaks in Canada's most densely populated corridor). Further, this is a key project for Canadian (And North American) capital, which has put the tar sands at the center of its energy strategy.
While resistance has popped up all along the route, and has been ongoing for some time, I decided to post about it due to the recent(ly evicted) occupation outside of Hamilton: Check out their blog. (http://swampline9.tumblr.com/)
Hopefully I'll have other things to post in this thread soon.
