Good news for women's rights. It has been confirmed. Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst can not pass the bill to Gov. Rick Perry because the vote happen after midnight.

Dewhurst declares abortion bill dead, blames 'unruly mob'

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst returned to the Senate floor at 3:01 a.m., banged the gavel and announced that, “regrettably, the constitutional time expired” on the special session.

Senate Bill 5 cannot be signed because it passed after midnight, he said.
After making his announcement, Dewhurst paused, then added: “It’s been fun, but, uh, see you soon.”

The crowds in the Capitol, loudly cheering early word that the bill had failed, let loose with another rousing cheer when told that it was official.
Speaking to reporters afterward, Dewhurst said he was furious about the night’s events.

“An unruly mob, using Occupy Wall Street tactics, disrupted the Senate from protecting unborn babies,” he said.
Dewhurst said SB5 passed 19-10, but with all the ruckus and noise, he couldn’t hear the proceedings, and now “I can’t sign the bill” so it can go to Gov. Rick Perry.

If the bill was passed. It would have forced EVERY abortion clinic to close with the exception of 5 in the entire state Texas. That means a woman in West Texas has to travel 150-200 miles East to find an abortion doctor or travel out of state. For some people it could be a 200-600 mile trip to find an abortion doctor.

Would certainly have been ruled unconstitutional anyway.

Would certainly have been ruled unconstitutional anyway.

Yet it may take years for this law to declare unconstitutional and some clinics could close.

This is causing the social networks to explode with people realizing that elected 'representatives' don't have the people's best interests in mind. It gives me hope that we may someday have a proper Revolution.

Rick Perry Strikes Back

Gov. Rick Perry to push abortion regulations again in special session starting next week

Gov. Rick Perry is calling lawmakers back immediately for another special session to deal with abortion issues, and also to consider transportation funding and new sentencing guidelines for 17-year-olds convicted of capital crimes.

Unlike the last 30-day special session, Perry is not waiting 16 days before adding abortion to the agenda. It will start immediately.
“Through their duly elected representatives, the citizens of our state have made crystal clear their priorities for our great state,” Perry said in his proclamation.
“Texans value life and want to protect women and the unborn. Texans want a transportation system that keeps them moving. Texans want a court system that is fair and just,” he said.
Perry also alluded to the throngs who flooded the Capitol Tuesday night and disrupted the Senate just as it was poised to break the filibuster of Sen. Wendy Davis and push through abortion regulations.
“We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do,” Perry said.
