Hello, I'm new to RevLeft and I want to raise my consciousness. Need some help though

Hello everyone.

I'm relatively new to revolutionary politics, ideologies, philosophies, and economic thought.

I call myself a communist because I believe in the dictatorship of the proletariat and the destruction of imperialism.

My ideas around this are pretty narrow though and I would like to expand my understanding of them in a safe environment.

...and I couldn't find any other place safer than this.

I want to learn how the revolutionary social process to socialism is scientific among other things.

I've been refered to a book called "Socialism Utopian and Scientific" after asking about this in a public setting with other revolutionaries, but I get nothing out of it. Call me lazy, but that's heavy stuff.

...anyways I ask that you guys have patience with me and I hope for the best.

The question of science among the contemporary left is a good one: Most groups take the word of Marx, Engels, et al as holy scripture, something that cannot be critically analysed. This is of course anti-scientific. I think the following video is a useful insight into this subject:
