Hello, everyone. I can't believe it took me so long to find this site. I used to be a member of Democratic Underground many years ago now, but they didn't understand my leftist sentiment. I left them after they compared me to Tim McVeigh...
Anyway, I'm glad to be here. I hope to make many new friends and learn even more than I do already. I'm the first to admit my political knowledge, though more substantial than the average Joe, can always use refining.
As for my political leanings, well, I'm certainly left, much more left than everyone I know in person except for one. As for a label, I don't really use one, but most people would call me a Communist, though not all of my beliefs match up perfectly with that.
Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
In what sense wouldn't you see yourself as a communist?

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Not sure how Communism feels about the death penalty but I'm for it. I think there are definitely people who should be dead, who will never contribute anything to society no matter how hard we rehabilitate them.
Off the top of my head I can't think of a lot of differences between my own ideals and Communism, but I just got home from a ten hour day so my brain isn't working at full capacity at the moment.

I think there are definitely people who should be dead, who will never contribute anything to society no matter how hard we rehabilitate them. Communism has no official stance on the death penalty. Individuals do. Though, I'm certain that Marx, Engels, etc., being men from the 1800's, had no problem with the death penalty. I'm not 100% sure, though.[EDIT: Marx did question the death penalty, but in very few cases in very few writings] But Lenin and Trotsky definitely did not. If you are interested in the subject any further, I'd recommend reading this (http://www.marxists.org/archive/martov/1918/07/death-penalty.htm).
I am personally against the death penalty, for reasons stated in that piece. I'm for it in theory, but in practice, you can't be sure you are killing the right person.
Anyways, welcome to RevLeft! :D
