I have the feeling that the posts in the thread won't be worthy of the regular board. Mostly because I think we all know the answer is "nothing" or, at most, holding a small demonstration in one's country.

I don't think MLs uphold Assad as the Great Socialist Bastion for the Liberation of the Syrian Fatherland.
Contrary to what some historians will tell you, however, the Third International never endorsed cannibalism.
To call out the rebels for who they are does not mean uncritically supporting that Assadhole.

Hafez al-Assad seemed like more of a badass than junior is. Assad Sr. was from the old-school, the Cold War era. They just don't make dictators like that anymore *sigh*

We......don't? At least I sincerely hope that other MLs don't swallow this 'he's anti-impiralist' garbage. Assad is no more anti-impiralist than I am an astronaut.

No one with consistent politics supports Assad as some sort of great progressive leader.

Here and in Belgium it has been mostly standing shoulder to shoulder with neo-Nazis and aplauding their speeches... So not much new.
In what manner do you guys support Assad? Like, how do you actually support his government?Only under the condition that they haven't read a word of either Marx or Lenin.
