Please don't judge to harshly its for a literature class I'm taking, I'm hoping that you guys can offer some revisement. If you think it's fine please say so, if not then likewise. Any way thank you.

There once was a republic, a home for the free,
Filled with people much like you and me.
But this republic would not last,
It began to crumble very fast.

The people wanted peace,
But the leaders wanted war.
Soldiers wanted violence to cease,
but leaders wanted more.

The rich became more greedy,
And the poor more and more needy.
Eventually their economy fell through,
And the leaders knew not what to do.

So they began taking their rights away,
Becoming more fascist everyday.
Soon Fell the tree of liberty,
And in its place grew a tree of tyranny.

And now the people rise in revolt,
Storming olympus faster than a lightening bolt.
The fascists begin their counter attack,
And the rebels aren't fast enough to react.

The walls of olympus no longer white but red,
And all the rebels now lie dead.
No longer does toll the liberty bell,
No — not once since the Republic fell.

Nice.
That olympus suggests it is about Greece.
