What do you think about this pitiful waste of money, Sam Adams?
Bush Wants Moon Base (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3910698/)
There are so many better things that could be done with our country's money, and Bush decides to build a moon base.

No one is/was bithcing about the russian spacestation but if the USA builds a spacestation or a spacestation on the moon you all start *****ing. What if China wanted to have a spacestation on the moon, you would all start praising them, its amazing how if the USA does anything you hate it, even if its good.
The same argument could be given as to why the russians wanted to go to the moon first. You people just hate anything America does.

Georgie Bush has expressly said that the moon base will be used ONLY FOR MILITARY PURPOSES, and that the United States is building now so that they can "beat the other countries".
There is obviously nothing in it for mankind.
Besides, the moon has already been discovered... There's no way you can compare this to Chrstopher Colombus's voyage. <_<

Columbus voyage was a great thing. A lot of savage Injuns were dealt with as a result. And the moon base won't be used solely for military purposes.

I think its great that we are finally going to be doing something with the moon. It would be better if private companies did it, but you take what you can get. This is one of those things that you don't see the benefits for until after it has been done, but some of them will should be obvious.
1. If you haven't already figured it out, don't mess with the US or its aliies. You can't win.
2. Paving the way for private companies to colonise the moon. Think of the mining that could be done! Also, as it has no atmosphere, it is an easier place to start from with the rest of the universe.

Base on the moon is a waste of money, Missions to mars, I dont think are a waste of money.
Unless the moon actually has some usefull resources then a base on it is useless.
Missions to mars are usefull.
What pisses me off about this, is the fact that if China wanted another mission to the moon everyone would be praising them, but since its the USA they hate it. They probably also hate the fact that the USA wants to land a man on mars in the future.

A military base on the moons seems like a waste of money but a scientific research base would seem ok to me. Much of our technology starts out by being used by NASA a moon base could further technology for use on earth, but I doubt if it will ever be created if it is not made for space related purposes because there would be no reason to make these things otherwise.
I also have a question, didn't the US and USSR sign some kind of treaty that would not allow militarization in space? Has this treaty expired or is the US deciding that no nation can stop it so it will do what it wants?

So, let me get this straight: you want to give rich coporations the control of the MOON?! You know, we haven't finished destroying Earth's enviroment and exhausting its' natural resources, yet. Don't you think we should finish the job before we expand our horizons to include the moon and the rest of the universe? Heaven forbid we should be greedy! <_<

I dont know if your american indian, But latin american indians where killed because they would refuse to become catholics. Many of them died that way, other with diseases, wars, hard labor.
my point is the catholic church has persecuted many people including: muslims, jews, protestans , they killed the indians that refused to become catholic, and killed and persecuted other religion/poeple too.
Columbus should not be blamed(im not saying you did blame him) for the killing of all those indians, other people should like the other conquistadors and the catholic church.

Look at what I found on that link:
Some members of Congress have said they want to ensure that the United States remains the global leader in space exploration.
"If we don't do it, somebody else will," said U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon of Tennessee, a ranking Democrat on the House Science Committee. "The Chinese, the Europeans and the Japanese all have the goal of going to the moon. Certainly we don't want to wake up and see that they have a base there before we do."
This clearly shows they want to conquer the moon at all costs...they don't care about mankind... they want to be first to exploit the moon...I see many ***** hotels on the moon, huge propaganda, new entertainments over there...but no benefits to mankind...only to the exploiters.

You are a living example of the greedy, heartless, Capitalist pig. And you don't even have a valid argument. All you can do is make fun of starving Biafran refugees.
Do you know where Biafra is, lucid?
Probably not.
Have you ever been starving or poor?
Almost certainly not.
You have no idea what suffering is, and if you did you would most certainly not be mocking a poor African child who has been through so much more than you ever will. And do you know why that child is suffering? Do you know why the nation of Biafra was crushed and its people starved? BECAUSE of your ideology of choice, capitalism.
