View Full Version : Too Difficult to Get Something Done...

How would large scale projects ever get done in a communist society? If something involves a lot of workers, it would be hard to get them to agree on one thing-- using "majority rules," could lead to the minority not doing their job or wreaking havoc some other way. E.g. a film needs a crew to set up sets, technicians who know how to do lighting, cameras, etc., actors, and many other staff; would they all have to agree on what the final product (the movie) would be about?

They would. I think the way it would work is that someone would (in their leisure time) go to a movie making studio and say "hey, I wanna make a movie about X", then volunteers would come forward if they liked it. I mean, to make a movie (albeit a simple one), you don't need a huge amount of people. So they wouldn't need to convince a ton of people that the concept or story was amazing. And even if someone didn't like what it was about, in an communist/anarchist society, I feel most people would be doing it because they enjoyed what they were doing, not because they had to. For example, a lighting technician would probably work on a movie whether or not they liked what it was about or not, because they enjoyed the work itself.

Plus, in most cases, a group of people don't get together with no idea what they are gonna make a movie about then decide, rather, one person comes up with an idea then goes to producers to see if they like the idea and if they do, the movie is made. In many ways, it's similar, because if people don't like the movie, they don't associate with it. The difference is that more people would probably wanna work on smaller projects because more people would get to decide if they wanted to work on a specific movie without being told they couldn't by a boss because it didn't make him more money.

I mean, I believe that the process would be based on free association.
