Hello everyone,
I am a socialist. I currently live in Fredericton, New Brunswick and study there. I am a carré rouge, and although my struggle is primarily for free education, I recognize that free education is only possible (and conceivable) in the context of a larger revolutionary social change on the provincial, national and indeed, international level.
Although a good part of the country is left-leaning, there are some very right-leaning people and the country is currently run by the bland neoliberal (with some Bush-era neoconservative elements) apparatus that has become the burden of the proletariat globally.
I became a socialist once I realized that true revolutionary socialism recognized the need to combat social injustice and inequality in a real sense. I'm currently reading/learning about all the great socialist thinkers. From what I have seen in this forum so far, I greatly appreciate that RevLeft hopes to unite all of the revolutionary left - and that's why I joined.
I am still refining my socialist ideology, and am mostly interested in the real practice of revolutionary socialism. I joined this forum in hopes of both discussing some ideas that I have, and sharing what little I know with my proletarian brothers and sisters out there.
As an aside, I am a francophone (my father is Québécois) and I sing or hum "L'Internationale" all the time. I am connected with the more radical elements of the labor movement, and join in union rallies whenever I can.
I hope to learn from you all in the near future. Thank you.
