How would art and music function in a communist society.

One of my friends asked this,"if there is no money, and you make a painting and want to sell it, how would that work?"

it wouldnt, i mean there is no money, no buyers, no sellers, or anything like that. if the artist wants that people see his art he could put it on display at a local gallery or something. as for music, the same way as most bands do it today, go into a recording studio, record your album and since there are is no money, put it on the internet so people all over the world can get and listen to it.

Most true musicians and artists don't make their work for money. Art can be displayed for free and music can be put online just like it is today.
