hello my name is Joe i just came across this forum. I got interested in socialism about 5 or 6 years ago because of the economic crash and becoming unemployed as a result. I became aware of all the difrent social problems and how unequal society in Ireland is. I was given a copy of the communist manifest off a friend it made since to me so i became a socialist. im looking forward to having some good debates here with like minded people :D
Welcome :)

Do you self-identify just as a "socialist" or are you more closely linked to a more specific current? How is the left scene at your place anyway?

I suppose I would self-identify as a Republican Socialist but I also like the trotskyist current. There is a big left seen here in Dublin. There are lots of difrent groups, anarchists, trots and republican socialists would be the biggest groups and there are smaller stalinist groups. and there is an anti-Fascist group that has a mix membership from all the other left groups.
