Many countries in Latin America appear to be quite progressive and leftist, which is fantastic. However, would you consider any the countries remotely socialist, so in a sense democratic socialist? I've admired Hugo Chavez my whole life, he was a huge inspiration for me, and I realize he wasn't the best, but he sure has improved the lives of many Venezuelans. And he seemed to be very left-wing, and he's been described as the beginning of the "Pink Tide" sweeping Latin America. I'm astonished at how many countries in Latin America that are progressive, such as: Brazil, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Cuba. I see it as a good step in the right direction.
What are your thoughts on the "Pink Tide" in Latin America?
