I heard this song by Sonny Sharrock and Pharoa Sanders off the last album Sharrock made before he died today and it's one of the most beautiful jazz tunes I've ever heard. I don't know if we have any jazz experts on here, but could somebody recommend me some really sad/blue stuff?
Please no obvious cannon things, chances are I've heard them.

There's a lot of great versions of St James Infirmary Blues that are great and pretty twisted. I'm thinking of a couple of Archie Shepp versions but I'm sure there's others.
A friend has been into Brad Mehldau who does a wicked cover of Radiohead's Paranoid Android on piano.
Have you heard Colin Stetson? He's a contemporary sax player -- does some crazy stuff with circular breathing and drones. Not sure which album I've heard, but it was kind of sad, definitely spooky.

I really don't care for Colin Stetson, thanks for the suggestion though.

If the rendition of Mama Rose by Archie Shepp and Jasper Vant Hof circa 1985 doesn't rip your guts out, youre probably a neo-con.
