Greetings and welcome to Revleft! :)

So, you're new to this forum. This post will serve as a little start-up guide. First, I recommend everyone to read the FAQ (http://www.revleft.com/vb/faq.php) which includes the rules on which we operate.

Introductions is by its nature somewhat more relaxed than the other forums, simply due to the low-content nature of posts and threads here as it primarily serves as a place to introduce yourself or to welcome new members.

What this means is that I'm going to allow leeway with some things here, but please don't forget the rules are still in effect and that they can be enforced at any time. So here we go:

1. Spam rules are still in effect, although I'm going to allow one-liners here for the following reason: Whereas in most other content-heavy boards one-liners are disruptive due to their non-contributive nature, they are not really such a problem in Introductions because we're really just here to welcome new users and help them learn about the site and how they fit into it. Thus:
-You may make one-line posts and will not be warned/infracted while posting in Introductions.
-The exceptions are the following: Please do not make one-word topics. If you're making a topic, one word isn't a very good Introduction. You're not required to make them so if one word is all you can muster up, don't bother.

2. This is the Introductions forum. It's for helping new users and welcoming them to the site. So don't make them feel unwelcome. This means flaming and trolling rules are in effect, and you will get warned (and infracted on repeats) for doing so. Finally, when posting in Introductions you may not encourage users to close their account or leave the website. I am going to be very hard on this particular point as I want to encourage a welcoming, chilled out atmosphere here. So if you tell somebody to leave or discourage them not to be part of Revleft, you will be warned (and then infracted on repeats) for harassment.

But my threads and/or posts don't show up!

When you first sign up, your posts might not show up immediately. Don't worry though - there's a reason for it. You're not experiencing a bug, you haven't been restricted, you haven't been punished, nothing has gone wrong.

Basically to ward off spammers & trolls we have a 10-post approval period where your first ten posts need to be approved by a moderator. What this means is that for your first ten posts here at Revleft, each of those ten posts will need to be personally approved by one of the moderators. Usually this happens quickly and speedily, and I personally make sure to do them as quickly as possible.

Note that any posts in the non-political forums don't count towards your postcount. So if you want to reach the 10th post in your count, start posting in the regular forums! In general the Learning forum is a great way to start out :)

I have no idea what to write about in my introduction...

Well, some tips then:

- Where are you from, whats the leftist scene there like?
- What are your political ideas, if any?
- How did you become a leftist?

Can I post personal info about myself or others?

We at Revleft value privacy. This is often not a luxury, even in the "free West". This is why we do not allow for personal info - like names, addresses and pictures - to be posted. Your post will be amended when you do and it's possible you'll be warned.

Where can I add my own avatar or other personalised details?

You can do so under your User Control Panel (http://www.revleft.com/vb/usercp.php) (see User CP in the top menu).

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM :)
