I'm not usually one for these kinds of "Hi I'm new here" type posts. My usual style is to lurk for a bit, and then post when I feel I have something to contribute. Anyway, I'm from Canada (Toronto). My political stripes have changed over the course of my (almost) 40 years of existence, but they've usually been left, or at least radical. In my early to mid-twenties I was a Marxist socialist (in the IST tradition). Then I had a brief infatuation with free market Libertarianism (or Anarcho-Capitalism). Then I was an admirer of Swedish/Norwegian style social democracy. Now I've come to the realization that the ideology that best fits my beliefs is Communist-Anarchism or Libertarian Socialism.

I'm disabled and neuro-atypical and blog about these issues along with intersecting issues of race, gender, class and LGBTQ and others.

Btw I hope no one takes offense to my username. The way I see it, it's OK for me to call myself a gimp in the same way that it's OK for black people to call each other the 'N' word, but not for whites...that sort of thing.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

I'm not sure if "gimp" is acceptable here. For me, as a non-American, most of these "loaded" words have no particular meaning anyway. But it could be that the board administration, as a collective, sees this different.

Never heard of "gimp", but it can't be that offensive when it's the name of a popular imagine manipulation program -- naming a company **** (the c-word) wouldn't fly, but apparently calling it GIMP can, so I'd deduct the latter isn't really offensive, no?
