Summer has been raging here for a while, but for those of you lucky enough to live in a fairer climate, summer is just around the corner. So I'd imagine some of you are like me and already planning out your summer wardrobe. It's been a few years since I've bought new summer clothes and my wardrobe is painfully depleted. I'm looking forward to throwing a pay check at replenishing it, though I doubt I'll be able to find or afford half of whats on my list. I've got my own particular style, but I'm curious to know what styles you guys and gals are going to be rocking this summer. Post your wardrobe below! :)

Whats on my Summer Wardrobe List

Shirts:

I've never been a big fan of t-shirts and I get hot easily so light linen shirts are essential for me. I tend to wear various light blues and whites usually with stripes, though on occasion I'll throw in a light green, light pink, or pale yellow for some flare.

Pants:

http://www.pantsfashion.com/images/9/8/9/mid/Haggar-Mens-Life-Khaki-Straight-Fit-Flat-Front-Linen-Blend-Chino-Casual-Pant-13519896636691718897.jpg
White and light brown/tan khakis are my par of course, though I tend to wear light blue jeans fairly often as well, especially with the white shirts.

Shoes:

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/7005185964_f29fa3fed6_o.jpg

Summer is the time I wear most of the shoes on my shoe rack. On a normal day I'll probably be strolling along in either my boat shoes or brown loafers. When I hit the beach I prefer the brown flip-flop. They look equally good with both khakis and linen shirts I wear over my swim wear and my trunks when I'm swimming. Wearing them while not at the beach though is a cardinal fashion sin, imo. And I'll bust out my oxfords on the rare occasion I actually wear socks, usually to go with a suit. Speaking of which....

Suits:

http://male-extravaganza.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/FASHION-ADVICE-FOR-MEN-300x199.jpg
Suits like anything in the unbearable heat of the Florida summer are best in linen and light colors. This has proven true on the rare occasions I find a suit in the right size and price and have the dosh to get it. I also enjoyed rocking the classic double breasted naval blazer with white khakis and deck shoes when I had one that fit me. I'd like to find another.

Hats and Belts:

http://www.men-bags.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Gucci-mens-large-backpack-with-leather-interlocking-G-detail-7.jpg

During the summer most of my hats never see the light of day. The exception being my trusty straw cuban fedora. Generally speaking I detest the tiny fedoras due to my big head, but it's pretty easy to find straw ones that aren't dwarfed by my big head and they are light and airy, keeping me cool even in the hottest days of July and August. As for the brown leather belt, they're pretty much essential, they complete the outfit by pulling it all together while complimenting the brown in the footwear.

i've got a good start on summer shirtwise, got some nice polos in different colors, some good button ups, etc. need a few more light sweaters though for those (rare) chilly nights. on my list of things to pick up right now...

pants

http://images.urbanoutfitters.com/is/image/UrbanOutfitters/21371992_063_a?$beauty$

a nice pair of salmon trousers

http://zoom.jcpenney.com/is/image/DP0226201317025030M.tif?op_usm=.4,.8,0,0&resmode=sharp2&rgn=0,0,2000,2000&scl=5.2631578947368425&id=1cKMlMKeKXnaIbq0wHx2xo

can't go wrong with seersucker (besides being dry clean only, grumble)

also considering picking up a pair of yellow or white pants, but not sure yet might be a little too loud.

suits

http://lp.hm.com/hmprod?set=key[source],value[/environment/2013/Q40_0247_047R_0.jpg]&set=key[rotate],value[0.05]&set=key[width],value[3926]&set=key[height],value[4591]&set=key[x],value[20]&set=key[y],value[201]&set=key[type],value[FASHION_FRONT]&hmver=0&call=url[file:/product/large]

need a good linen suit, especially since i have a wedding to goto

also need to pick up a tan or navy blazer or both to go with the new pants for a nice spezzato look

shoes

http://images.asos-media.com/inv/media/1/9/2/1/2651291/navy/image1xl.jpg

boat shoes are a must of course. i already have other nice shoes, some suede oxfords, suede desert boot, oxblood brogues and some black loafers will be seeing heavy rotation and my polo sneakers for a more sporty look

thats pretty much what i have on my 'to get' list, probably thrift some good stuff throughout though

Shoes:

Some battered DCs or converse.

I would get better clothes but I'm broke right now.

t-shirts, shorts (usually cutoff pants, shortish gym shorts, cargo shorts, or random nice shorts found at thrift stores), and either skateboard shoes or no shoes. and shorts always have to be completely above the knee or else you are defeating the purpose of shorts. fuck wearing pants during the summer.

Wow, I always thought fashion would be considered bourgeois on a leftist website...

Anyway, I really like fashion but I hardly ever dress fashionably. For me, summer clothing is a tank top, shorts, and flip flops. I also like dresses, but I usually don't have the right occasion in the summer to wear them.

Where ever I can find them and get them cheap. Usually a combination of walmart/k-mart type places, discount stores like Ross, and thrift stores. Occasionally the swankier places will have really good deals and I'll swoop in and grab some stuff cheap.

Plain black shirt/black metal shirt/punk shirt with either cut off khaki shorts or black skinny jeans, ratty white vans stained with blood and 2 stroke oil/gas, no socks, backwards hat, fake raybans.

If I need to class it up, then I switch the tshirt to an oxford button down, and the shoes to boat shoes.

2010 called... ;)1

i mean, i like trainers ("sneakers" as you lot call them) a lot, and some stuff from brands like stussy, but "street wear" is basically the standard look for guys in the uk right now, and has been for the last year and a half. it looks boring and tacky to me, tbh.

i also don't really dig the great gatsby prep stuff. it can be alright if you can properly pull it off, but most of the time guys look dweeby and lame in it imo. trying too hard.

I wear llrge black jeans cut off mid ankle or below knee (never above) with my black work boots or my red-white-black nikes.

For shirts i wear black hoodies, layered large solid t shirts (grey or red under black), or grey/black under shirts with a light button plaid jacket. Like what Ray is wearin below (mines diff color tho)

no like, only ny was massive here in late 2011 / early 2012. couldn't walk around without seeing half a dozen people wearing the same snapbacks, tshirts and sweaters. maybe i'm just being a snob, but it's pretty boring when everyone is in the same shit. that's not to say they haven't put out some nice stuff i wouldn't wear, i'm just tired of the look.

s'all about balance for me. i like people who take elements from everything as part of their look, i don't like it when people go out and buy a wardrobe. you can have "fashion" without having style imo.

e: not that any of this applies to you, i dunno how you dress, just my reasoning. i'm most definitely not into "fine, proper, boring things".

I was thinking about this thread and stuff and I think I dress nice often because 1. I like the way a lot of fancy clothes fit on my body (both traditional men's and women's dress clothes) and 2. sometimes I think it makes me feel like a dead invisible ghost that looks good. Obviously I don't dress to the extreme that are in those mugshots from the 20's or whenever they were from but I borrow.

I have a vintage Raketa 12 hour pocket watch which I wear with my 3-piece suits.

Is it bourgie of me to wear 3-piece suits with french cuff shirts and leather shoes? Would it make it any better if I said I can find a complete outfit (jacket, slacks, vest, dress shirt, & tie) for under $20?

It's amazing how serious people take you when you are dapper as fuck. It sure bears being brushed off when I wore wrangers and t-shirts all the time.

To keep this on the topic of "summer": a classic 3-piece cotton suit never goes out of style. This excludes certain cuts from the 70's and 80's.

Ah, fashion.
I've had debates on the merits of individualism as expressed by fashion. Back in my gutter punk days anyone with any sort of non DIY clothing was the enemy, what I didnt realize at the time was DYI clothing is a form of conformity in and of itself. MindPhuc. Nudity. True individualism!

The cap, posted by Mari3L, is my favourite headwear, but I always lose them or forget them somewhere, and don't have one at the moment. Since becoming bald, I usually wear some kind of hat/cap/beanie whenever it's socially acceptable - I always take it off when sitting in meetings, at dinner etc and of course at work, but otherwise, all the time.

It was funny once when I was selling the paper together with a comrade, actually Olentzero who also used to post here, and we both had that kind of caps on. Some insufferable social democrat comes there and starts telling first me and then Olentzero that we are 'trivializing Lenin's cap' - Lenin killed billions of people etc, and now we are 'trying to look like him'.

Had he been a little younger man, I might have had a witty response for him. As it was, we just ignored him, but the incident gave some good laughs afterwards.

As for summer clothing otherwise, I tend to wear some tight jeans, a jeans jacket and colourful t-shirts. My mother always says that I must be colour blind; but I guess my love for screaming colours simply originates in my passion for the rave subculture in my teens.

I also like the oldschool communist style with a suit jacket and so, but that's reserved for mayday and other more important occasions.

I know what you mean. Living in this sweatbox of a state has made me legitimately consider moving to a nudist colony. I can't really imagine England gets all that hot though, whats summer temps like over there upper 70's, low 80's?
I don't actually know how temperatures work in fahrenheit. I think my ancestors just lived in some horrible, freezing place up north so I'm more adapted to cold weather. I also have pasty white skin that burns really quickly.

30 degrees Celsius is like 86 degrees Fahrenheit if I remember my conversions correctly. Having really light skin must suck. I have an aunt who is all Irish and when she comes down here on vacation she leaves looking like a tomato she burns so bad. It looks really painful.

I usually chill in the shade to avoid looking like a tomato
I'm not actually sure how warm England gets, maybe about 25 degrees or so? So yeah I guess 70s-80s in fahrenheit.

Yeah I got to agree with bcbm. Cargo shorts are just ahead of jean shorts on the 'wtf are you wearing' scale. I'm not a huge fan of shorts because I don't like nature shit rubbing all up on my leg, in fact I don't even currently own any unless you count swim trunks. However, if I was going to buy some shorts I'd go with a nice pair of flat front white linen or cotton shorts.
http://www1.macys.com/dyn_img/search_landing/1148277_160x195.jpg
They're a good alternative to long khakis. You could get away with some other colors depending on outfit; light blue, salmon, yellow, tan, etc.

Also, as bcbm pointed out, a nice pair of seersucker shorts always look good.

What's the 'gay dress code'? Here in SF anyone dressed a certain way could be gay. Weight lifting sporty type fellas. Men in flannels and work boots. Hair stylists wearing Versace. Surfer looking guys etc. I suppose it may be different in other cities and small towns. Dress a certain way to sort of advertize being gay? I wouldn't know whats going on outside of SF. I've been here too long. I guess at one time I did hold onto a stereotype that gay men were all dressed very nice. Clean cut, styled hair and designer clothes.

Only standard Levis 501s. No other jeans/pants in my wardrobe unless I'm backcountry hiking or some shit.
2) Shirts:
Only blank t-shirts. Either black or white, v-neck or regular. Nothing printed on 'em. No short sleeve collared shirts. Only long sleeve, rolled up either to forearm or past elbow. These will be plaid flannel shirts and are for when it's chilly.
3) Shoes:
One of two shoes depending upon weather: leather pull-on boots or wing-tip oxfords.
4) Other:
No accessories other than my regular glasses or sun glasses if it's bright. No jewelry, watches, patches, nothing.

I have some seersucker shorts cause I jumped on the WASP trend last summer. I also have a seersucker sports coat. I really liked the juxtaposition, all the trademark items of the american ruling class (ray bans, khaki, madras, loafers, etc) but worn by some asshole covered in tattoos.

But I never really felt comfortable, felt more like a costume, sort of like if I were to go out today in a bullet belt and jeans covered in patches, I'm sure I would look ok, but I would feel pretty awkward.

Those are all really nice dresses. I especially like the floral tights that the model is wearing in one of them. I love tights. I could be bold and wear them with my shorts but I'd probably just look like a dork.
Does anyone know where to find similar dresses at a reasonable price? Dresses are listed at $150+ on polyvore.

Fair enough, but sometimes it makes things easier. If there's a comfort issue you could always get a pair of good inserts. Inserts make Dress shoes fit improperly. Boots should never be made uncomfortably, so it's a moot point there. I actually don't get the guys knocking of boots, since they're just as comfortable as regular sneakers most of the time, although a bit hotter.

Indeed. The only reason that they would be uncomfortable is if you buy a pair that are shoddily made or ones that don't have the right fit for your foot. I've marched in parades and explored New York City on foot in oxfords and was perfectly comfortable.

went to goodwill to find a traditional men's wool dress blazer like one of the rugged ones without the shoulder pads that's more of an overcoat but not a peacoat to wear over blood and dirt stained white under-tank with suspenders failed to find any but ended up trying on about a hundred women's fashion dress coats instead and bought two, apparently fuck saving money

I like the idea of being able to go to work with tough work pants and suspenders with just the tank but a rugged dress coat to throw over to be suddenly not quite as gross, if anyone knows a specific name for these coats or a place to get them let me know, I used to have two but one ripped and i dunno what happened to the other /lifestory

I'd like to wear more feminine stuff from time to time, but I feel way more comfortable in shorts/jeans and a baggy t-shirt. Today I'm wearing baggy camouflage 3/4 length shorts, a kind of hippie-ish black t-shirt I got from France and a black zip up hoodie (my house is cold inside, will probably take it off if I go out). I'm going out later and I'm going to wear this dress, which I bought plain white and dyed/added beads:
