Camps for change?

Dunno if this is the right name but was watching Criminal Minds there and there was a camp where parents sent their kids to be cured/fixed of their homosexuality. Do these camps really exist ion America, or anywhere for that matter?

Yeah they do they're pretty terrible. In South Africa it was just revealed that like 2 people were basically starved and tortured to death in one. Broken bones, malnutrition, all kinds of really crazy stuff. I know in America there have been ones like that too where kids are basically tortured if they don't change. Isolation, going without food for long periods of time, hard labor, etc, they're really fucked up places.

There are also "gay conversion therapy" centers which aren't as bad but are still terrible. Would be horrible to go to one I imagine, you're not going to "pray the gay away". In California they actually banned gay conversion therapy but I think the Supreme Court or California Supreme Court shot down that piece of legislation as unconstitutional.

What's really crazy is one of the pioneers of gay conversion therapy was a gay man who was supposedly turned straight who ran his own "clinics". He just came out a couple weeks ago saying that it doesn't work, that he's still gay and everything, that it's a sham. They're really weird, like I've seen videos of some of the "therapy", like a guy beating a pillow with a paddle yelling "I hate you mom". Fucking weird places, who would actually send their kids there?
