The creator of the, supposedly, first ever 3D printed gun self-identifies as a Crypto-Anarchist. What do you all think of Crypto-Anarchism? Is it a joke tendency? I've heard that it is linked to Anarcho-Capitalism.

Crypto-Anarchism is not a political ideology, at least not related to anarchism. It is perfectly compatible to be a crypto-anarchist and social-democrat, for instance. It simply refers to anonymous-type (free and unrestricted) use of the internet.

Well, if he identifies as crypto-anarchist, he is obviously not a crypto-anarchist.

Crypto-anarchism doesn't refer to secret support for anarchism:

Pretty much this. I thought it was supposed to mean to be a secretive, ultra-subversive organization. Interestingly enough Wiki calls it anarcho-capitalist, although I think I would call it politically nihilist. It certainly adheres to the view that the revolution should be created by secret organisations who provoke oppressed classes into revolt by any means necessary.

The Crypto is a reference to Cryptography and social democrats wouldn't advocate something like crypto-currency or assassination markets. There is a good article in Notes from the Borderland Issue 10 (http://www.borderlandmagazine.co.uk/) on Crypto-Anarchism.
