I like the new record. A bit over extended, but...

I don't care for him at all. He's an incompetent rapper whose lyrical content is late Eminem style whining about blog drama nobody cares about and rape jokes. He always mispronounces words to make them rhyme, which i hate. His beats are boring, underdeveloped, and I'd much rather just listen to Pharrell.

I only know that one really famous song by him. What would be songs worth listening to?

French is a dope song. So is Yonkers, and he has tracks here and there. But mostly, he leaves a lot to be desired, and his music gets incredibly boring, incredibly quick.

I like Odd Future as a whole because despite them not being the best rappers in the world, each of them has a unique sound. Tyler is obviously the most famous, but check out the other guys if you haven't already.

I met him. He's a cool dude.
I think WOLF is a good album. Very jazzy here and there. Treehome95 is a great song.

So why would you post in a thread obviously about rap then?
Oh wait, to get your post count up, I get it

Wolf is definitely a step up from Goblin, I think. It's still just "okay", imo.

Got wolf. Good album. Domo's verse on rusty is just magnificent.

I like the Domo stuff. Answer just knocks me out. I was making some cracks to friends that he was the Black Eminem.
I see some funny parallels between him and Drake, talking about really personal stuff in a way that mostly hasn't been explored in hip hop (or other pop music). I like some pretty spooky indie stuff like Smog (Bill Callahan for you young people) and Sparklehorse, but they tend to be a little distant, a little too poetic or artistic. The Streets or Roots Manuva have better gift of gab, but are also very direct about the fuckedupness of life.

I tried listening to Goblin but it got repetitive and depressing.

Not to derail this thread (this actually seems like an appropriate place to say this, though) but apparently Tyler The Creator is under fire for a commercial that he made that's supposedly racist and misogynistic. I can't find any uploads of it to the internet though, just countless articles on it. anyone hear about that or have a video of the commercial?

I thought their beats improved a little, as in the bass doesn't sound like absolute shit when playing it on a subwoofer. I gave Wolf a quick listen a while ago, and I can't really given an opinion because I recall just getting bored quickly and going on to the next thing. I'm sure there's a few cool songs, though.

Look up mountain dew racist commercial and it should come up. It really isn't as bad as people are making it out to be though.

It could be shorter.
I thought Tyler was on this one, but he's not. Other OFWG are.
So crazy for it. https://soundcloud.com/hoodinternet/the-hood-internet-blueberry
Earl to me is the real gem of that group and I hope to hear more of him.
I just don't see any replay value in Tylers music because its so personal.

I really don't like rap, but I must say I do really like Tyler and Odd Future. Mainly because of their attitude and unique image. What they do is different and their message to society is awesome because they are basically just the biggest trolls ever.

You should probably listen to more hip hop.

Eh, I can't get into it. I do dig some rappers from the 90s but it just got ridiculous to me. But to each their own, everybody is into different music.

Their attitude and their message to society is that rape is great and women are worthless whores that should be abused.
Fuck you.

It's just predictable shock horror that exploits current internet boy culture. It is really meh stuff, I can see it being appealing to teenage boys.

Is it shock horror? I can't tell in between all that pathetic emoing out that he does.
Lines like:
My father's dead well I don't know, we'll never fuckin' meet
I cut my wrist and play piano cause I'm so depressed
Somebody call the pastor, this bastard is so posessed
This meetin' just begun, nigga I'm Satan's son
My mother raised me a single parent so it's apparent
That I got love for my mother, none of you other fuckas
Are much important I'm gettin' angrier while recordin'Scream desperately for his desire to be taken seriously as an artist.

Ugh, Hopsin is another one I can't stand. The guy basically stole his whole flow/rhyme scheme/delivery from Slim Shady LP Eminem, but just added the cliche "Fuck the industry I'm too dark and real" bullshit to it. No originality, just pure gimmick.

Earl Sweatshirt has potential, and at this point I'd say Odd Future is holding him back more than anything. As for Tyler, I've never cared enough about him to keep up with him. I have one of his albums Goblin and I think and it was alright he does complain about his problems too much though. His show on Cartoon Network seems really dumb too.
