The demonstration took place yestarday (sorry for the late update  ) in Thessaloniki for the cause of junta that took power in Greece at 21st of April in 1967.

Workers, unemployed, trade unions, students (and generally young people) and anti-racist organizations gathered at the statue of Venizelos. After that they started marching with the slogan: " Stop the domination of the state in our lives and the fascist nostalgia" (trust me there are lots of fascist lovers).

The demonstration was peacheful.

Greece seems to be becoming more leftist everyday, probably largely in part to the drastic failure of capitalism that has painfully hurt the country. Also, look up the landlord in Greece who open fired on foreign migrant labourers recently. These are tides of class struggle sweeping through Greece, i hope Greece is optimistic about their future

Don't forget that real fascism is becoming more powerful by the day as well.

It's about time Greeks stood up and fought the Golden Dawn bastards. We don't need another Nazi country "annexing" the Balkan states and creating another World War :(

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean? Is Golden Dawn not real fascism?

On topic: I'm glad that a stand is being taken in Greece.

Golden Dawn as a party was created at the orders of former military dictator Georgios Papadopolous, who was trained and armed by the US as a part of the Cold War. They're still made up of people who were in charge of US-backed cold war operations; they just use fascist rhetoric right now for tactical reasons. They have more in common with the Taliban than they do indigenous European fascists.

I have no doubt that this has nothing to do with AntiNihilisT's original post, I'm just sick of seeing it not brought up.
