I picked Marley... you just can't beat that reggae.

And for those of you who don't know - Les Claypool is the singer and bassist from Primus, Robert Smith is from The Cure

I'll say Joe Strummer, which sadly falls under the category of "other".

Ah sorry, forgot about him, and quite a few other people are coming to me now. I was just looking at my CDs as I wrote that.

Well you can't put everyone, or please everyone. You did at least have some variety.

there are four choices that really deserve any merit at all.
I picked John over Bob and Bob because of Norweigan Wood and Rubber Soul in general, though, come to think of it, I'm not sure he wrote Norweigan Wood. hmm...

6th January 2004, 11:09
James Brown.. Without a doubt

I'd like to ask you why there are no soul or jazz artists.

It is a very narrow selection... And women? Where's the women? Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Dusty Springfeild, you gotta have Dusty!

Invader Zim

Richie James or Nicky Wire, two of the greatest writers of lyrics, and both in the same band.

6th January 2004, 20:21
Well i went for Lennon, i didnt like Dylans religous period.

Zach de la Rocha is probably one of the best lyricists of our time(to me). Its to bad he had to go and quit rage. Chris Cornel is just a loser. He has made the band all soft. Rage was music that really got you pumped and was totally original, but Audiosuck(slave) is just another washed up corporate rock band. Chris just doesnt have the same chemistry that the rest of the band had with Zach.

Sorry, sorry... just picked a few from my CDs and LPs and added a few often talked about on the board - Rob Smith of the Cure, Les Claypool of Primus, Carlos Puebla, Zach de la Rocha...

I still find it absolutely unexcuseable that you have no soul or jazz artists.
All you have rock and raggea.
There were more musical movements than 2 in the past 40, if you didn't know.

I didn't pick anything- polls like this are too narrow. THe best polls are the specific ones, such as the one about the doors.

It's clearly Dylan anyone who can sell music without being able to single has to be a genius.

jello biafra? he really hasnt made much impressive music since dead kennedys broke up. only thing i like from that point on was that song with Mojo Nixion, "Will The Fetus Be Aborted?" but he didnt write that, i think Dayrl Cherney and Judy Bari (Earth First) get the credit.

Jello's mainly done the spoken word thing, but that's still an art form is it not?
He also did recordings with Nomeansno and DOA both of which kick ass. The Lard stuff is pretty cool too. And I really liked the whole Prairie Hone Invasion album with Mojo Nixon, "Mascot Mania" is a hoot. He'd be one of my top artists, not the top but up there certainly top 20.

Have to Vote Carlos for his nice music. He has some really nice and profound texts.. That is if I had to choose from the list provided. No question about it.. Second James Brown because that man has done really much for music and seems to be a cool guy.
