Golden Dawn members were kicked out from Potamia a region of Thasos after trying to "spare" some food because they have such good hearts (or just because they want to get votes and make people think they are nice).
Thasians told them to get out and that they don't want fascists among them.
Also I have to highlight that Golden Dawn anounced that the fascist media of the rotting democracy (I suppose they mean the left media) showed to the people only the "outcasters" that threw them away and not the lines of people that gathered there to take the food....

Ha, so Golden Dawn is "anti-fascist" now?

If they didn't say they were anti-fascists then they couldn't call themselves patriotic Greeks and be taken seriously.

No they use the word fascist (as lots of people actually) to describe the abuse of freedom. Practically they think and they show to the people that they are a democratic party of nationalists that love and care about Greece. Nothing more nothing less.
I think it's something like subconscious advertising: They tell you that they are nationalist democrats while at the same time they anounce that Hitler was a misunderstoud personality.

Golden Dawn's manifesto seriously sounds like it was written by one of Hitler's clones. It seems rare that one sees that level of paleofascism nowadays.

As I said before I think it's something about subconscious bullshit. Even though they have fotographs of Hitler and his followers in the front page of their magazine, even though they say Hitler was somehow misunderstood etc etc people don't seem to realize that they are nazis and not some patriots that want to "help" the country...

Let's not forget their origins as the residual terrorists of the Cold War, trained by the USA to root out communism in Greek society (http://dangerouscitizens.columbia.edu/1967-1974/the-red-housecoat/1/). They're every bit as much foreign occupiers as the Italian and German fascists were.

The sad truth is that events like in OP's post are an exception to the rule of what reception GD members generally get.
