Hi, I'm new. :)
- Where are you from, whats the leftist scene there like?
I'm originally from Mobile, AL and currently in west Florida. The leftist scene, as it were, is subdued and quiet and exists mostly in college areas and music scenes. Military fetishism and libertarianism is all the rage judging by media loudspeakers, but most white people tend to lean towards democratic apathy. It's my impression that the black community in the deep south is far more left and politically aware. I can't speak for anyone but myself, however.
- What branch of leftism do you subscribe to?
communist
- How did you become a leftist?
My parents are pretty far left and they sent me to expensive Catholic schools where I was socially excluded by virtue of my socioeconomic status. I majored in Anthropology in college which just deepened my sentiment. I don't think there was any pivotal point in time where I became a leftist, it is just a natural tendency.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

So, your parents were far left but sent you to a catholic school? That seems somewhat contradictory :p

Thanks. I'm mostly just lurking right now. This is a big forum with a lot of interesting topics.

As you point out, religious education might seem like a contradiction unless you consider the source of liberation theology. :D
