So what do you think about ALI G interviews ?

I think in some of the interviews one can notice some clever questions from him - like for eg, in iran-iraq question to James Baker(COS), he asks - But are they different ? I think that means "They are'nt different to you as long as you are going to bomb them both"

And then some clever point in his Religion debate and on street abortion question. But apart from this bits here and there i dont think one can get any direct political message in his interviews.
Does he have any autobiography ? Maybe that could shed some light on his politics ?

Thanks

I recall hearing that he was going to put Peter Taafe onto his show and one can only assume quite literally mock the living fuck out of him. His brother was in the SPEW and begged him not to do so, so it didn't go ahead. He's never directly addressed capitalism as an issue so I assume he's probably a social democrat of some kind.

The Ron Paul bit with Bruno was great. Ron Paul "This guy is Queer lets get out of here". That's a pretty strong political message coming from Ron Paul. As in, "I don't like gay people".

Interview with Peter Taafe would have been good.
However his interview with Naomi Wolf i found ridiculous, She was making all valid points and in the end just gave up.
But what surprises me also is that how come any of the interviewee does not just laugh off. I mean interviewee are always serious as if this is very serious stuff going on.

While his brother is a Trotskyist, Ali G's politics are pretty right wing. He was a stock broker before going into comedy.

Your comment implies as if Ron Paul perceived 'Bruno' to be gay and then left in a fit. I just watched it and I would respond pretty much the same. Come on, are you really going to hold it against people that they don't want to be in a room with a man that is flirting and undressing himself uninvited?

Yeah, this is why Bruno falls short of Borat. In Cohen's movies/shows the idea is to provoke reactions from people so that their bigotry and intolerance is exposed. What happens in Bruno, though, is that the main character's "gayness" is taken to such violent, absurd extremes that it forces even the most open-minded people to react badly - and they don't react to him being gay, but to him being an asshole.

Seen Bruno, when he talks to Palestinians? Heard of his movie "The Dictator"?

How about in Borat when he paints all central asian peoples as anti-semites?

I'm not saying I've never laughed at his stuff, and I did enjoy it at one point, but after seeing more of his stuff and realizing how much of a piece of shit he is, I struggle to find him funny anymore.

Specify the scene because what I can recall is one scene where the character confuses Hamas with Hummus and shows severe ignorance about the middle east for comedic effect. There was nothing anti-Arab about that.

I haven't seen the movie so I would like you to specify where the anti-Arab element is.

Central Asians aren't Arabs. You also miss the point to the stereotypes in Borat.

Whatever floats your boat.

Yes, how did it go, was it the using the locals in some village and then screwing them all over and paying them next to nothing and all that? It was something really vile, that much I recall.

The film was fucking boring too.

Well you just don't have any sense of humour. And how does that village story fit with Borat's use of stereotypes?

This has nothing to do with Cohen's racism against Arabs but rather his film-making ethic.

Shit like this:

ElTgT35fZWs

And then he goes and runs around on TV shows bragging about his interviewing of a "terrorist". Unfortunately I can't pull up much, cause none of it is on youtube and I have no desire to pull it up on netflix and watch it, because I find it personally offensive. He's a zionist piece of shit and he hates arabs, and any other culture which he believes to be "anti-semitic". This is a recurring theme in his comedy, to claim that certain "backwards" groups are anti-semites, be they central asians or arabs. And it is a racist theme.

I had no desire to watch it, it is clearly an assault on north african arabs, and thats where my family comes from. I know everybody just sees Khadaffi when they see it (and I don't support Khadaffi one bit), but I see a racist caricature of my uncle, or my grandfather. There was also a time when people laughed at black face, we got past it, but in our culture its still okay to take a shit on us backwards sand-niggers who wander through the desert...

Central Asians aren't Arabs.

No shit, but its another ethnic group who Cohen sweepingly declares to be backwards anti-semites. (which is fucking racist)

Does that mean its ok for white frat boys to throw "pimps and hoes" parties? Because its just for a laugh or whatever? Well I'm not fucking laughing, you might get a kick out of it, but I've had to deal with being "othered" for my arab heritage.

Since Cohen decided to make a Palestinian man a terrorist just to make a scene funnier I can come to no conclusion but to agree that he's prejudiced towards Arabs.

The supposed "terrorist" in real life:

ZheYqoKtt60

He's a Palestinian activist. Of course, to Zionists, every Palestinian is guilty.
